Our Angel’s Rest Adventure

Image

Last week, Jimmy turned 27, and we took a little adventure away from the city to celebrate. We ended up spending the day on the Angel’s Rest trail in the Columbia River Gorge. It’s so unreal that this place is less than 40 minutes from our front door.

Little did we know, this hike was quite a climb. About 1/2 way through our hike to the top, we snapped this photo … See the rocks in the top-right? That was our destination!

Here’s our adventure:

My handsome hubby.

After several weeks of rain, it was absolutely amazing to be in the sunshine.

The beautiful path … Mark this as one of the main reasons we moved to Oregon!

Love this moss.

Funny thing … we thought this was the top. This is when we were questioning whether we should keep going (trying to find a path).

So glad we kept hiking, because this is where the path took us!

Image

Gahhhh!!!! So high up. He was trying to give me a heart attack!!

Image

I couldn’t stand quite as close to the edge as J, but I got close. So happy to be at the top … this trail was INTENSE!

View from the top … a storm rolled right in front of us.

We fed this guy a few peanuts … They are all stuffed into his cheeks!

Image

When I say ‘fed’, I mean, HAND FED. Jimmy HAND FED A FREAKING CHIPMUNK!

ImageImage

Open this last one up … the chipmunk is actually biting J’s finger. Not hard at all … just a nibble, but needless to say, that was the end of the peanut feeding session.

Teeny road down there.

Teeny me!

Right as we started hiking back down the trail, we were joined by a bald eagle. So cool to see these flying. They’re HUGE!

We made it back to the car just a few minutes before it started to sprinkle … perfect end to an amazing day!
